Stitchography: Threads of Inquiry

Work in progress was presented through a pilot exhibition facilitated through Longsight Art Space in October 2023. The exhibition was a public showcase of my own practice and work created as part of the collaborative walking-stitching workshops. The exhibition was curated around six pieces of work – Steps, Trace and Thread created through my own individual practice; and Path, Tracks and Place, created through the collaborative workshops.

The exhibition became a valuable point in practice to reflect on the trajectory and direction of the study. The rigour of curating the exhibition and developing textual documentation to enable a legible reading of walking-stitching methods provided a useful framework for reflection and shaping my thoughts. The pilot exhibition became a knot, a point of convergence where all threads of thinking, making, reading, walking and stitching came together.
